Description

Now dont get me wrong, I LOVE Sheary. I think he's a poor man's Martin St. Louis. But he's not St. Louis and he needs some work. Crosby only has 8-10 years left, and we need to FINALLY get him a serviceable winger. Not Kunitz, not Billy Guerin, not Dupuis. The reason i like Duchene is 1. he's played with Crosby before with Team Canada. 2. he's fast and strong on the puck. and 3. he's young and very talented. I think the Avs would be willing to retain the 2 Mil since they won't be a cap cautious team for the next couple years.

think you'll have to throw in a good prospect too considering the high asking price for duchene rn and b/c col is retaining 33% of his contract.. especially since the 2nd and 3rd are not this years draft (even though its not deep)..

well if Sakic knew how to pick good player, which he does, then theyd be getting a B+ prospect in Maatta who really just needs a new change of scenery, a 1st round prospect which is worth a good amount, and they 2nd and 3rd can easily be 3rd maybe even 2nd liners. the Avs realize theyre not going anywhere with this team, theyre in full tank mode and by the TDL theyd be willing to move Duch for this no doubt. No one wants to give it up right now.

You say Crosby has 8-10 years left...but how many of those years is he going to be the force that he is now? Connor Sheary is still young, and he works with what they have. They shouldn't be trading Maatta unless they are getting another defenseman in return, especially a left shot one.
