i understand your first trade to gain 2 1sts but why trade vrana? He's probily a good leader for the young group you're going to be building plus he's went all the way in playoffs so he has experience to share there in 4 years when you guys start to make playoff runs

I agree that second trade is awful for Detroit.

That Vrana trade is bad. I don't understand why I see so many people wanting to trade Vrana.

I don't think we can determine Vrana is a "good leader" from his stint in detroit. From the accounts I saw around the trade with WSH, all their fans were pretty happy to see him leave. He's basically a smaller, faster Mantha. They claimed he didn't really try and disappeared in a lot of playoff games. Mostly I am afraid (although I trust Steve Y in these situations) that he will ultimately want too much money and term. He's already won the cup... now he wants the money (which is understandable). Getting good value for him now is better for the long term. I don't see him repeating his shooting percentage this season, nor do I see him as a good fit in Blash's system (who was just extended).

Moreover, I am much more bearish on this team than most. I think its better to tank now and be true contenders in 4-5 years then go for a playoff push in 1-2 years but not really be "contenders".
