The Sens are looking to improve sooner than the 10OA pick will be ready to play a significant role on the Club, and given the projections for this draft, it would be lucky if it became a player like Conor Garland. Arizona is at a bit of an impasse with Garland and is desperate for a top pick after having to forfeit their's this year.

I would say it is pretty fair. I'd prefer 2 good assets instead of one, especially since this draft is one the weaker side, but depending on what other teams are offering this is something to consider.

The value is fair but I don't believe it's in Ottawa's best interest. A few reasons:
Garland is small and that matters even more to Ottawa now that Pierre McGuire is on the team.
Garland is also 2 seasons away from being UFA so to justify trading a top 10 pick OTT would be forced to buy a lot of UFA years in his next contract, and he is arbitration eligible.
It would be fair to say we need a top 6 pivot far more than another winger, which is clear by the fact you have $5M Dadonov as a healthy scratch in this line up.
This draft is going to be nuts; way more variations in the minds of the best scouts top 10 predictions. Can't see OTT giving up this pic when there's a chance McTavish or Johnson are available at 10.
And finally, they should NOT be in a rush; Stutzle, Pinto, JBD, Sanderson and Greig all need a little more time anyway. We are a few years from "win now" mode.

If Garland agreed to such contract ARI would keep him. And if it's much more than that Melnyk won't bite.
