Leafs are under the cap without moving Kerfoot with a 2nd, no point to this trade from the Leafs perspective, it's lateral at best more like poor asset management now

Leafs are 1.4M over the cap at present after the Ritchie signing. Sure, you can get under the cap running no scratches, but if they want any flexibility they’ll have to make a move.

Avs prospect pool will be very shallow very soon if they continue to trade away top 100 picks. 2nd round picks turn into cheap ELC players that can extend your window. Kerfoot is a better fit for the Avs middle 6 at this point, so I don’t mind retaining some $$ as opposed to trying to find value at the bottom of the UFA barrel.
