Backes ended his career. He's not coming back.

Line up isn't optimal:
Zegras -> C
Terry -> Top 6 RW
Drysdale -> Top 4 (he should play with a good LD and not with Larsson)
Rakell makes the team > Deslauriers, Silfvy
Lundeström should play C and not LW

Haha why would Isles do that. Gibson has a bigger reputation than what his play indicates, and I dont believe its solely the defense fault. Sorokin could easily be better than him next year and continue to be so. Im sure you could get a 1st and a good prospect from a team desperate for goaltending, but surely not the Isles with Varlamov/Sorokin and Lennox in the pipe.

The isles easily make this trade. (Rolls eyes)

They give up a young stud goalie making a small salary + a 1st, a 3rd, and a high end D prospect for an expensive, overrated goalie they can now use as their back up. It makes so much sense.

Sorokin:
.918 sv% in 22 games
.922 sv% in 7 playoff games

Gibson:
.903 sv% in his last 2 seasons combined
.889 sv% in his last playoff series

I wouldn’t trade Sorokin for Gibson straight up.

Isles are one of the teams that it makes the least sense to go after Gibson. You need to understand a team's needs and situation before putting these types of trades in.

Sorokin is a really good, cheap, young, team controlled goalie. Varly is also a very good and capable starter in this league. With the rest of the signings the Isles need to make, they can't afford to ship out the cheaper, young goalie and assets with him to get an expensive goalie like Gibson (not to mention I'm not sure how much of an upgrade it would be to do so if any).

Not well thought out - try trading Gibson to a team that it would make sense to. Likely would have to be a trade at the TDL or more likely next offseason since the goalie market was crazy this summer and most teams are set at this point. Potential options could be the Oilers (if you take Koskinen back to make the salary work), maybe the Canes next offseason depending on how their goaltending shapes up this year, the Pens (but you'd have to take on some salary the other way to make it work), maybe the Avs next year since Kuemper contract will be up.

I absolutely love Gibson, but no way do I make this trade.

Isles would be interested in Lindholm or Fowler from ANA.
