Seems like Zajac is going to retire. If not I think they should take a look. Zajac has been in the league a long time and can help such a young roster. He would take Domi's spot until his return. He would then be flipped at the trade deadline for a mid to late round pick, with salary retained if necessary.

Zajac is rumored to have signed a one year league minimum deal with the Islanders, so I’d say he’s probably off the market.

Lucky for Columbus, however, I think there are much better players than Zajac they could do this with. Tyler Bozak, James Neal or Derick Brassard are a few names that come to mind, all of whom would be better additions than Zajac imo

This is the right idea just the wrong target as he’s already off the market according to rumors. Brassard or even Eric staal might be more intriguing. Both have offensive upside (considering the rest of the options). And brassard was drafted by cbj. He’d probably be open to returning to where he was drafted to end his career.

Even if he’s there only to alleviate pressure from young guys like texier and roslovic.
