So here is the thought process. Wild have too many wings, and possibly Zuccarello doesn't agree to go so SJ, SJ has too many long contracts and possibly Burns doesn't agree to come to Minnesota. For the most part I'm trading Zuccarello for Burns. I do realize Burns only has one more year than Zuccarello but Zuccarello is 2 million cheaper AAV and because his NMC converts to a 10 team no trade, he becomes more trade able than Burns.
The Hertl trade I break down like this. If Burns is out then Sharks could use a new RD. Dumba is cheaper, younger, and locked in for 2 more years. If Sharks feel he is worth re-signing after the 2 years then they do at a price likely much cheaper than Burns. If trading Hertl then the Sharks will want a center prospect, Khovanov is a 2nd or 3rd line center prospect, Sharks may ask for Khusnutdinov, but if I'm Guerin I'm going this direction. Finally since Khovanov is not yet in the NHL and Wild could struggle to re-sign Greenway I offer Greenway a young forward with loads of potential and still has a RFA year. This likely needs more work but you get the framework.
