If Leafs could keep Hertl for more than the season, it might make sense, but next when when Hertl is gone and the prospect cupboard is even more bare, it'll be a poor looking trade.

Jensen isn't a top pair defender. And spending that much on Hertl hurts you down the line. They should keep the 1sts and former 1sts for depth down the road.

The usual craziness, 21 man roster and no 7th Dman. Makes the defence considerably but off course all bottoms enders from other teams area stars. Some team might give up that much for rental Hertl but why should the Leafs? You really think you can trade Ritchie for assets?
