You could certainly argue Manson for Dermot is fair, but that Ritchie contract into next season, Ducks want more of a sweetener

Ducks pass. You give up nothing of value. Leaf fans dump Dermott on every ACGM, Ritchie is dog water, and there isn't much value in a 5th rounder for a bona fide top four defenceman at 50% retention

We think that Manson's value with 50% retention is a 2022 second and a good prospect. Dermott is a bottom-pairing defender, and we have two of those already (Simon Benoit and Josh Mahura), and there's a reason why we gave up on Nick Ritchie. In short, there's nothing in that offer that interests us at all. We'll get better offers elsewhere. (Even a top-half 2022 second alone is better from our PoV.)
