Why is Minnesota paying for cap dump in cody eakin? He won't play over nico sturm

Normally i wouldnt try to talk somebody out of a deal that benefits the sabres, but im gonna make an exception here. Eakin is awful, hes just awful. Hes doing well on faceoffs, but thats not worth a 3rd round pick.
