Description
This is my 2nd and last one. The 1st time it was clear that people's opinion of Nylander was held way above what Josh Anderson would bring to a team.

How about with Tom Wilson?

Nylander has a significantly higher hockey IQ than Wilson as well as the high skill to pull it off what he sees possible. He is also younger. Although he has been more engaged physically this year he still tries to avoid it unlike almost every other Leaf player this season who seem to be laying it on the line (Tavares, Kase, Sandin, etc).

Wilson is a beast who has very few in the league who can match/beat him physically. Playing on the top line he has amassed a lot of points this year. He also doesn't seem to think straight sometimes though like our beloved Kadri with his inexcusable 3 playoff suspensions.

In the playoffs with the increased intensity but also tighter defense who do you think tip the Leafs fortune for a series win?

...AND should the GMs do it? I see the benefit for the Leafs having either player so I don't know the answer.

Gee, it's hardly a Kordic for Courtnall comparison. Wilson was infinitely better hockey player than Kordic. Courtnall at the time wasn't playing well for the Leafs, Nylander was the best Leaf in last years playoffs.
But lets go back to the history of the Kordic trade. The game before the trade the Oilers had come into MLG and manhandled the Leafs, and targeted Borje Salming. Remember her the trade was made in the mid 80s where fighters were a necessary part of the game/team. So the Leafs traded for Kordic whihdc for that year and especially the next gave the Leafs necessary toughness.
Personally I don't think the trade ws a bad as many make out.

😑

Much like that awful deal this is not a good idea

Why cite one of by far the worst trades of the Har*ld freaking Ball*rd era (one of the worst of all time too naturally) as a way to promote an idea... might as well just say it's the "Battlefield Earth (2000)" of trades... may I suggest hiring a new marketing team here

Naturally it's much closer in value but...

Still the same structural problems as that

Physicality was ancillary in hockey back then

It's a fringe factor now (10% of interactions max)

Nylander is an elite W

2.4 PrPts/60 last 3 years corsi out the whazoo

Almost identical to Marner (better corsi tho)

Sublime talent 🎑

I guess that is what I don't get. I think everyone realizes that Nylander is the better player but they still prefer a throw back style player who can sometimes 'will' the puck in the net whereas on a scoring chance Nylander will rarely miss but also will never throw the big hit or fight.

Just testing the climate here one last time this season.
