For tonight, they move Liljegren to the taxi squad/ahl since he's waiver exempt.

Sandin is just taking one for the team/his buddy.

Sandin gets 1 day of AHL pay (then recalled today). Then Liljegren gets a few days of AHL pay.

I'd imagine the next step would be demote Ritchie, but that will be after Liljegren clears COVID protocol.

Sandin is, as of now, scheduled to play for the leafs tonight as per mark masters

Gee, to save cap, I wish Tavares for example would save one for the team by agreeing to go the AHL for a few off days. He can afford and that cap would be meaningful.

Given that Sandin is expected to play tonight, I assume they'll send Liljegren down. Or a trade could happen, possibly grant Mikheyev his wish for a new start or look to trade Ritchie.
