Tippet is an interesting piece, but Samoskevich, while also interesting, isn’t as intriguing as, say, Lundell. That first rounder would have to be in 2022 or 2023, and heck, you would more than likely have to include both. The Yotes want picks and they want those picks to be either in this draft or the next draft, and while 2024 should be a deep draft, the Yotes are looking to get back to contention as soon as possible. For Florida, I would say a package of Lundell, Tippett, and 2 first round picks would be a good start to a package.
Assuming this were to happen, how does Florida keep the roster they have with what little cap space they have, and resign everyone this off-season? The answer to that lies with Bobrovsky. Barkov gets a big raise next season, and other players like Verhaeghe, Mamin, Vatrano, Marchment, and Lomberg will need to be paid. That isn’t even including your pending RFAs. Or will Florida pull a Toronto and just cheap out on their depth? Bobs is at best playing at about a 7mil price tag, and while he has been good this season, he isn’t worth 10mil. The only way the Panthers would be able to get out of Bobs contract without killing their cap situation, would be to dump him, most likely to either Arizona or Buffalo, and hope like heck that he will waive his NMC so facilitate a trade. Plus, the likelihood of him waiving is about nil. Panthers will also have to worry about Huberdeau in 2 years as well.
