I understand why Dallas might jump on that but why does Edmonton? Even if consider it a short term upgrade which I question its creating a hole in the line up for next year.

Can't see Boston moving a goalie. They didn't sign ulmark by accident.

If this was all it took to get ullmark , it would have been done 2 weeks ago.

In my eyes, it doesn't create a hole; it frees up cap space and allows the team to reallocate said space into a position where it would be of more use. The point of signing Barrie in the first place was to avoid over-relying on Bouchard without having confirmed his capabilities first. Given what we've seen so far, I don't think that's a concern anymore. I believe the author's reasoning is as follows:

-Dallas gets a player similar to Klingberg at a rate that's much lower than his reported contract demands for another 2 years and a pick (whether they WANT such a player or not is question)
-Edmonton frees up much needed cap space for next year now that they know more of what they have in Bouchard while getting a bit of an upgrade on Barrie for the rest of the year

What this comes down to is how each person values each of Klingberg and Barrie. If you believe they're of similar quality, then I think it works. If you believe Klingberg is far better than Barrie or if you believe Barrie is valuable to the Oilers (like you do), then it doesn't.
