Value is fine for Schief, but the wrong team. Morrow is the best prospect Carolina has right now, so that would instantly be a no. Carolina also wouldn't move a future unprotected first. They don't tend to move first-rounders in general.

But most of all, it's the wrong team because 1) Carolina would be 4 million over the cap but 2) They don't need him. Aho - Trocheck - Staal - Kotkaniemi is one of the strongest C pools in the NHL. That excludes Derek Stepan, Steven Lorentz, Jordan Martinook, Martin Necas, all can play C too. It's the position they need least of anything on the roster

I could also see Poile and Hynes being interested in Stanley at that price. Imagine a Stanley - Myers pairing. That would be the tallest d-pair in hockey lol
