Winnipeg shouldn't do the LA or Toronto trades.

Why not? Jets blue line still looks solid, they need the picks to restock the cupboards.

        I like both deals.

They should absolutely do the LA trade

Because they're both low returns and kind of pointless. Stanley is a 1st round pick that the Jets have invested a lot of time and money developing. Why trade him now, when he's playing regularly and looking decent for a pick that has maybe a 1 in 10 chance of ever being as good as Stanley is now and won't be useful for 4 or 5 years? Fans really over value draft picks and shiny, new objects.

For the Toronto trade why move a solid NHL defenseman along with another regular player for a return that DeMelo easily gets on his own? Winnipeg is in effect throwing away Vesalainen 40 games into his career when the team is playing bad for nothing. Why throw away all that development time for nothing?

Now if it is a cap situation for DeMelo, I can see it, but there's no reason to give Vesalainen away for nothing.

See above. It's poor asset management to throw away a contributing young defenseman that the Jets have spent a 1st round pick on and years developing, just when he is stating to pay dividends for a pick that has less than a 1 in 10 chance of ever being as good as Stanley is now and won't help for at least 4 years. You're just doing what every fan does and over valuing draft picks in relation to NHL players.
