Toronto needs a solid defensive defenseman. Stay at home, Adam Larsson type guy. Vatanen is another offensive defenseman they don't need. Go after Hamonic or Manson.

You can't take Manson from them because he is cheap and they are a capped out team, so they need him. I like Hamonic, I just don't see us putting together a package that can get him.

I think Anaheim is the team that you will have to target because if they want to keep all the d-men they lose Silfverberg.

Zaitsev isn't signing a 7 year deal for 4.5M either. Might do 4.5M for 5 years though. Also your comment about ARZ needing to get to the CAP floor is not accurate, even with the 12M they have coming off the books in UFAs they have a bunch of RFAs needing contracts and will most likely try and re-sign Vrbata. They'll be over the CAP floor already without taking on Lupals contract.

Guess a 4th try is required/

Agree this Manson and some others might not be available. Although Vatanen is not the ideal candidate for the Leafs, it's baby steps and Zaitsev, Carrick and Vatanen would be a respectable right side. Lot easier to fill the final LHD position behind Reilly and Gardiner, and the Leafs do have cap space even it's with a short term veteran.
Lupul is a good candidate for Arizona, hey the Leafs might be able to package Horton. Only danger is that there is a possibility that Lupul is deemed healthy, which puts a wrench into any LTIR for any team.

I'm trying, lol. 4th try coming up later, lol.

Zaitsev is signing a 7 year deal. I have a friend who works for the Leafs who has already told me the 7 year deal is pretty much all but done.
