Description
Trying a cheaper TDL approach. Don’t think any of these really make BOS a true cup contender but I think they could potentially improve the team. Obviously would rather add a true 2C, a better RW and preferably a younger top 4 LD but how much do we really want to sacrifice for these? I know adding depth pieces seems kinda silly without adding pieces to ensure we can even get deep into playoffs, I get it but If it was me I’d try some minor moves this year, hopefully get Berg back for one more, make some decent off-season acquisitions (Good luck with that when Sweeny’s calling shots I know) and take one last true run at the cup next year

IMO BOS should be keeping their 1st this year along with Lysell and Lohrei. All other prospects I could move on from.

Trade the first for maybe hertl if we could get him to resign/ extension in place or maybe a lindholm again same thing with extension or pre communications leading to resigning with us
(Not sure we can really afford him next year anyways with Center issues we have).Other then that keep 1st cause I mean Sween doesn’t exactly have the best track record when trading them away. And Lysell and Lohrei if we could get 25U 1-2C or 1-2 LHD but that’s about it.

IMO 2C is the most import positional need. Top LHD would be next but both of these are going to be pricey at the TDL. As once again our fearless Sweeny dropped the ball this past offseason.

CHI Trade: First off I’m not saying Strome is a big uprgrade from Haula. But like the title says, Taking a chance here. And obviously if we can get a Hertl or more proven 2C then this trade can just be dissolved but this is a cheaper option that, if Hall-Strome-Pasta can click could be more beneficial for longer term then Haula. Haula has been…not great this season but Getting better I guess as he’s 2-5-7 in last 10 games and is 6-13-19 in 27GP since being moved to Center hall and Pasta. So again not horrible but that also means he was 1-4-5 in the first 25GP this season which is very not good, almost like he’s getting carried by his line mates. FO% is sitting at 51% on the year so acceptable, but if you look into the last 10 games is down to just 45.9%, not horrible by any means but nothing special. Strome is nothing special either, currently, but a change of scenery with some different upper talent line mates could help him out. He’s currently at 53% overall on the year for FO%, 47.7% in last 10 and .52PPG on the year (Haula .46PPG on the year) So I think Strome could be at the very least be a lateral move and if he fits in, an upgrade, along with being 25 (in 2 days) and a RFA he could be an option.

Gus is just playoff depth, he’s cheap and decent 3-4LD option. Idk if CHI would be willing to trade him but being 30yo UFA without an extension in place I would assume they’d be willing to for not a whole lot. But we could obviously take him or leave him, not a huge priority here

DET Trade: Once again, taking a chance here, he’s 7-10-17 in 53 for a .32PPG this season, EwWwww. This is the first season he’s ever played over 50 games, but he’s never hit 20 point or even managed to get 10 goals in a season. Drafted 6th OVR he is what you would call a complete bust at this point but at only 22yo and RFA after this year he’s an option. Bruins could use a little RW help (pending JD trade, once/if he goes BOS needs quiet a bit of RW help IMO) He is a left shot so not ideal but he is a lot more familiar with RW than JD. So screw it, give him probably the best chance of his career, slap him on the top line with Berg and Marsh and see if he can find a groove. Might get lucky, might continue to be a bust but think it’s worth a shot. Not sure what a return is going to look like here as he was a 6th overall and Yzer is a stickler to deal with but can’t imagine it’s overall high for a guy who’s never panned out. Did throw Reilly in here for the reason mentioned under the trade but he doesn’t have to be part of this as BOS has enough cap to keep him.

VAN trade: Pretty black and white. Just a depth addition, got another year left on contract at a whopping 850K but at 32yo, 6’2” 225 pounds he adds some experience and size to the back end for cheap

So D gets a little stronger,IMO, and has some pretty good depth with 5-8 Dmen being Schenn, Gus, Urho and Cliffy) I would rather give Urho a full time roster spot over Gus once he’s ready to come back but that would put us with 24 players, so either would have to move out a forward (Blidh being most probable here) or send him to minors so we had plenty of depth for playoffs in all positions

These leave BOS with 3m+ in cap for either little different moves or more moves, they could still add something fairly significant with that much space if they desired, but these gives BOS a little different look (Not saying it’s better) some decent options and still with all their first round picks and top prospects as none of these trades would require them pieces.

Again not best option out there but taking chance on couple RFA’s can’t really damage the team that much, as worse comes to worse they’re under team control and can recoop a little something for them in off-season or next TDL if they don’t pan out
Trades
1.
BOS
  1. Gustafsson, Erik
  2. Strome, Dylan
Additional Details:
BOS gets a Cheap LD depth piece for playoffs and a younger (IMO better) center to replace Haula. Will keep Haula just in case it goes way south and need to swap them back
CHI
Not 100% sure on values and what CHI needs are going to be, by the sounds they’re heading for rebuild so possibly young prospects or picks
    2.
    BOS
    1. Zadina, Filip
    Additional Details:
BOS takes struggling winger that never panned out, cause hey they could use a little RW help and we know they like their Czechs
    DET
    1. Reilly, Mike
    Additional Details:
OBVIOUSLY this will need to be added to but I heard DET might want a cheaper LD to bridge gap to younger prospects that are not quite ready, Reilly is a great D and has some great hands and would much rather see forbort go
    3.
    BOS
    1. Schenn, Luke
    Additional Details:
    Cheap RD playoff depth
    VAN
Mid pick here assuming, could instead do Braun from PHI if people like that better, just did Schenn cause he’s cheaper cap
      4.
      BOS
JD goes somewhere, preferably in one of CHI or DET trades but again not sure if Stevey or Davidson would want him. Personally I think a 2nd line of JD-Dach-Cat in CHI would be interesting, CHI fans will disagree
        SEA
        1. DeBrusk, Jake
        Additional Details:
Also already said he would sign for less then QO so that should make little more valueable

Was hoping they could work a Debrusk Strome deal but i doubt it. I think they hold Strome unless they get a package of picks/prospects they can’t refuse.

Gus sucks, zero defense defenseman. Pass.

Zadina won’t come cheap despite his slow start to his career.

Ya I was to on Strome, said that almost as soon as JD requested a trade and everyone s#!t on me here but idc I still like Strome.

Gus, like I said we could take him or leave him, doesn’t matter he’s just an extra warm body for depth, looking for cheap options, Chara was another but he’s just so damn old and slow I went this way

I don’t see BOS going for Zad anyways, not like Cassidy would actually put a 22yo flop on his top line and
Yzer always finds a way to get back what he wants in a trade so I assume your right even though he shouldn’t get a whole lot for him.

Detroit have no reason to trade Zadina so any offer have to be good for Detroit to listen.

Filip isn't nearly as bad as you make him out to be, he does everything right except score and the times he's been paired with quality linemates the scoring is there too.

Zadina is cost controlled for the foreseeable future and Detroit have time to wait for him to find his scoring touch.

Zadina is 22 and Reilly is 28 Detroit isn't trading Zadina for a much older LD that's not happening and Detroit 100% declines. We will trade Fil for a similar aged and similar skill set not someone that's 6 years older.

I might do Vaakanainen for Zadina.
