Description
Is this realistic? Probably not, this is just to see if we can solidify ourselves at the deadline (defensive depth + our 3rd line).

I have an admittedly optimistic view on Byram, that he'll be back for the playoffs. He's already back to skating, I just think we ought to let him take it easy and play when he feels like he's able to. Also, I just want it to be known that I built this team with the assumption that Barron, Olausson, and Annunen are untouchable prospects, and any prospects besides them are available for discussion if you give us the right pieces. Now to explain the trades.

Kulak is a good depth piece, he'd be a good addition to the Avs blueline on the 3rd pairing with EJ. I'd give a 3rd for him. I know the Habs need to take back salary, but it's 0.5 years of Murray. That's not bad, and they can still retain on Chiarot if they move him.

Giroux obviously warrants a larger price than other pieces. I think Helleson and Kaut are all good pieces for Philly to acquire. Helleson is going to be a great defenseman one day, and Kaut has middle 6 potential. That comes in addition to a 1st and 3rd, and a roster player in Compher (who they could potentially flip at some point). Maybe we'll get outbid by an overpay, but who knows?

Now for Copp, you get a good prospect in Beaucage, and you have to take back MacDermid for salary reasons for the rest of the year (a minor inconvenience, at worst). Additionally, you get a 2nd and a couple of late picks. I think this is fair for a 3rd-line player.

Feel free to criticize my moves in the comments!

That's alright for Kulak. Habs can deal with Murray to balance the cap and if he can earn himself a cheap contract for next season, the better.

We won't resign Murry as our LD is already full and we have a few prospects pushing for a spot as well.

Let’s say Murray plays well and Harris look shaky at the end of the season (he will sign when NorthEastern season’s over). You only have Edmundson & Romanov for next year with Harris Guhle Norlinder fighting for the 3LHD. We still need a 7th dman in case one of those 3 guys make the team. You don’t wanna sit Harris Guhle or Norlinder … so if Murray gets outplayed, then he sits

Only Petry-Edmundson-Romanov-Savard are guaranteed NHL spots next season, it wouldn't hurt to have a depth option who could be at worst the 7th D in case Harris/Norlinder/Guhle aren't ready and Schueneman/Clague isn't it.
