Description
18 players under contract, just under 8.5m in cap space this summer.

Please don’t get to hung up on trade destinations as I just threw them together quick to get cap space ideas here

Moving out Reilly gets the B’s to just under 11.5m

After Foligno gives about 13.6m

After Forbort gives about 16.6m in cap space this off season and about 35m (not including cap ceiling increase, which it should) in 23 offseason (Pasta and Sway due contracts)

With these minimal signings it leaves the B’a with 4+m for couple guys to round out the roster or technically enough to qualify JD if no trade happens between now and then. Not a huge fan of this but it’s doable for sure.

Could also bring Lysell up if he shows he’s ready in the pre season, replace coyle with him possibly and move coyle back to his 3C spot, sliding Studs down to 4C with nosek and lazar on his wings, if he’s still around. (Which would leave about 3.6m in cap space)

Would really like a legitimate 2C but won’t be easy. Potentially moving out Smith and haula would open up about 5.5m, coupled with left over here would leave 7m ish for 2C and another couple million to round out roster (replace smith)

Couple options here, so it’s not all bad, it will be tight and there will be some contracts moving around in the off-season for sure but should be fun to see what happens

Trades
1.
BOS
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Both Lindholm and Grez are great picking moving Dmen, that leaves Teilly the odd man out. I really like him but have no need for him anymore so sending to a team that could use top 4 LHD. DET could also be possibility here as they could use a guy for a couple years to bridge the youngsters
2.
BOS
  1. 2023 7th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Moving Nick out, should be possible with retention. This leaves him 2250000m cap for 1 year which is reasonable. And I think a young team that could use a little veteran leadership could benefit from having him around
BUF
  1. Foligno, Nick ($1,575,000 retained)
  2. 2023 4th round pick (BOS)
3.
BOS
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Don’t really want to move Forbort here as I like his ability on the PK and top 4 capabilities but at 3m that’s a little pricey for a third pairing Dman. B’s could also use the extra cap space this makes so off he goes. Ideally I would like to acquire Middleton from SJS at 22TDL and replace forbort with him on the third pairing but we will see I guess

I really can't see Foligno waiving his NTC. Last two years of his career, he'll stay on a Cup contender, Bruins.

Red Wings decline. Forbort is 30 years old. He is a LD. But I see Yzerman re-signing Marc Staal for another season to play 3rd D pair LD. Young Edvinsson seems like a strong bet to get another LD spot. Plus I expect Yzerman to acquire a top 4 Defenseman from a team who has cap issues. Like Pettersson from the Pens or Martinez from Vegas. We have guys like Johansson, Wallinder and Sebrango on the way not to mention McIsaac. I don't see where Forbort fits.

Reilly has been better than Grizz and Grizz costs more. Move Grizz instead.

Foligno still has an NTC to half the league and wants to win.

Reilly or Forbort I can see being moved, more Reilly really but not both. I'd take either for a 3rd in detroit. The off-season all hinges on what Bergeron does.

I agree, but Grez being hometown boy made me assume they would move Reilly over him but either way, someone got to go IMO

Foligno, doesn’t have to be non-contender, just threw BUF up there, NSH has plenty of cap and could use some depth possibly, LAK is same , again may not happen and worse comes to worse they can buy him out for only 1.9 so either way should be able to move on from him if they choose
