What do you think it would take to get him? Probably would need to upgrade a prospect over Lindblom, but if any team offer-sheeted him they would give up 4 firsts, which is about the equivalent of this trade.
Four 1sts is not the equivalent of this trade.
- Konecny has shown some promise, but after two straight down seasons, I'm not so high on him.
- Lindblom has not lived up to the promise from his second season.
- Frost would have been a much-more enticing prospect two seasons ago. Now, he is looking like a B6 guy with an injury problem.
- Besides being in 2024, I'm not so sure FLA is going to collapse to the point where that pick is in a particularly good spot.
You have Laine on your top line, and signed to a 7-year contract (which, there is also the option of a sign-and-trade with CBJ to get an 8th year). From PHI, the package would start with either your 2022 or 2023 1st rounder, unprotected, or possibly both with protections. Add Brink, maybe Konency, another 2nd/ 3rd. Maybe more, even.
Or, PHI, or another team, can offer-sheet him in this range and just give us their 2022-2025 1sts, unprotected.
But, from what I've read, Laine wants to stay with CBJ. They've pegged his value around 5-6 years at $8.5M or so per, so honestly, they would just match this contract.
