Jets accept if they decide to keep Schmidt over DeMelo. Schmidt could also be available and would probably not cost you that much (obviously, he has a bigger cap hit)

Carlson for two 2nds

While I am VERY open to moving that contract before it becomes a burden, I think that he is worth more than two 2nds. For a team that does not intend to be cap slammed, he would be a 1D for a number of years. Also, his salary is $2M less than he cap hit so there is a little extra bonus for the lower salary teams ("free" cap).

It is really unlikely the Jets move DeMelo unless cap issues force their hand. Probably other players would be moved before DeMelo.

If the caps play Carolina in the first round they may be ok, at least they won’t get swept as they have played well everytime they have played Carolina this year. If your gonna get rid of Carlson you will need to acquire a new #1 D-man. Subban could be a possibility as he is having a big bounce back year but just hasn’t put up a lot more points because he is playing 6-7 mins less a game and Isn’t getting PP time
