Getting greedy... a 3rd for Pettersson is the consensus value.

Who agreed to this? I only hear this from Wings fans

Also, the difference between the Caps second and Wings third is ~15 picks, is it really a difference worth arguing over? Those slots are something like 30% chance to play 100 games vs. 25% chance

This team is not improved from last year at all. We are already struggling a ton with our roster as it, if we lose first round or even later I don't see the point of running it back. Signing Kapanen for 3.5 mil especially dosen't make sense and idk about keeping UFA's if we're out first round, at least not all of them

The vast majority of other Pittsburgh ACGM posts.

I'm not saying those 15 picks would be a deal breaker, just pointing out that you're getting greedy, when the overwhelming consensus on this board, is that a 3rd is market value. Pittsburgh needs to shed cap and everyone knows it, so they are not in a position of leverage in negotiations. If anything, they might even need to take less as no one will be looking to do them a favor.

At the same time, the roster has been good enough this year to be a contender despite injuries

Withholding judgment of the roster construction until they play five games with a full lineup
