Description
I think it is safe to say that what we need to do is rebuild. There was a little bit where I thought maybe we were on the upward trajectory with the core of this team. Unfortunately we're a below average team made to look average by moments of individual brilliance. Trade for picks, try and restock the prospect pipeline, and if we get lucky maybe we can bring Bedard home.

Trades
1.
VAN
  1. Liljegren, Timothy [RFA Rights]
  2. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
  3. 2023 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
This is a good package for Miller. We get a young RHD with Liljegren as well as a pair of firsts to restock the prospect pipeline. Maybe a more defensive minded RHD would be cool but I think he does fine
TOR
  1. Miller, J.T. ($2,625,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Comes with an extension

I think at least one team will go out of the playoffs early and be willing to give up a big package for Miller. The Leafs are more of a placeholder team, but I reckon they could be the type of team to do something like that
2.
VAN
  1. Zetterlund, Fabian [RFA Rights]
  2. 2023 1st round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
The Garland/OEL trade was a bad one. Garland is cool but I would rather have a decent pick and a decent young player. Who knows, maybe the Devils collapsing so maybe we can get a Bowen Byram situation
NJD
  1. Garland, Conor
Additional Details:
Garland is a decent top 6 player. He plays a nice two way game and has done reasonably well for a poor Canucks team this year. Could be a nice move to get themselves closer to the playoffs
3.
VAN
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi [RFA Rights]
  2. Marino, John
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Marino is the centrepiece of this trade. Finally we can get a good RHD to partner Hughes. Kapanen has potential and our new FO likes him a lot. Marino is an upgrade over Myers and Kapanen is a downgrade from Boeser, but they're cheaper and younger so they fit better.
PIT
  1. Boeser, Brock [RFA Rights]
  2. Myers, Tyler ($3,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Extension for Boeser agreed to beforehand

Boeser fills a big need of another scorer in the top 6. Myers has been good this season, and is actually good value at 3 mil. Overall an upgrade in the short term and might give them a chance at one more cup run
4.
VAN
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Pearson just doesn't have that much value for us if we rebuild, at least not as much as a 2nd
CGY
  1. Pearson, Tanner
  2. 2022 4th round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Flames are more of a placeholder, but for a contender Pearson is an excellent middle 6 guy to have. Plays a good 2-way game and has been better offensively under Boudreau.
5.
VAN
  1. 2022 5th round pick (ANA)
ANA
  1. Dickinson, Jason
Additional Details:
Not much here. Maybe wishful thinking that he doesn't have negative value, but this is my ACGM so whatever
6.
VAN
  1. Dadonov, Evgeni
  2. Roy, Nicolas [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Now with lots of cap, we need to weaponize it. Dadonov is a cap dump but it's only a year. I would say it would take a late 1st to dump him, and while Roy could be offer sheeted for a 2nd, this gives us priority and doesn't ruffle feathers

Devils are not chancing a 1st on Garland. Guy has 36pts in 65gp this year. In what world is he worth a 1st from a team that will be coming off a top 5 pick?

Not to mention, when will it ever get through offense is not the problem the Devils have? This is not the trap team people can't over...the problem is they can't get a goalie that can stop a beachball.

Who is Myers an upgrade over? It sure as hell isn’t Marino because if that was the case, the Canucks wouldn’t do that trade. Which is why the pens don’t do that trade. Boeser isn’t going to agree to an extension. Why would he? He could make 7.5 million and bet on himself. Have a good year and probably get a long term deal for closer to the 7.5 million figure than the 6 million figure Canucks fans think he will get.

    1. I never said Myers is an upgrade. I meant that Myers & Boeser> Marino & Kapanen, in the short term, which the Pens will probably focus on more

    2. YEah he could bet on himself, but he also might just take a longer term deal considering he has had injuries in the past.
