Description
Weaponize cap space to add key pieces and organizational depth and veterans to balance the lineup and make the damn playoffs. 8 D on the roster the whole season, Eakin as 13th forward only suits up if a center is injured, Peterka first call-up if a wing goes on IR. UPL in Rochester all season unless a D or goalie goes on IR. Colorado purges cap. Compher is flipped half-retained to Calgary who purges cap at a high cost, but gets back a retained Compher and goalie prospect and can then bring back Gaudreau and sign Tkachuk/Mangiapane/Kylington to long term RFA deals (adjusted for Calgary to upgrade a 3rd to a 2nd), Florida purges cap and adds a future 2nd. Sabres get NTCs waived for Monahan/Lucic/Hornqvist for immediate buy-outs. Can't buyout these players with this tool, but the buy-outs will take the total cap to 80million (85 million is what is shown)

Frees up 10 million in cap, and freeing up 10 million in cap has a high cost. I added a 2nd round and 3rd round swap, but I do think original trade was fair. Compher at 1.75 has fantastic value, maybe he slots as 3C for you, defensively sound and tough, and is a right-shot which Calgary always could use more of. Theoretically Portillo can take over for Markstrom when that deal ends. If he signs (which is a big if). Cheers.

Flames don't need to free up 10M in cap space. It does not cost a 1st to move Lucic and it certainly doesn't cost a 1st to move Monahan.

Compher is a a replacement level player even on a team as good as Colorado. He is neither defensively sound or tough, plus you are way out of the loop if you think Calgary needs right handed shots.

Calgary already has a significantly better goalie prospect than Portillo in Wolf too

Like for the 1 millionth time, EJ and Compher aren’t cap dumps and sure as hell BUF is on EJ’s no trade list every day.

COL declines as the value of the return is about half of what it should be.
If those are the returns, COL has cap space to hold them or move to next best bidder
