Description
Signings:

Strome: NYR can't afford to keep both Copp and Strome and it looks to be Strome that walks. He'll be a good 2C for us.

Trades:

PIT: In cap trouble and have young defenders needing roster spots. Pettersson is a rock solid defender that will be a perfect partner for Hronek. For some reason PIT fans don't like Kapanen but I do. He has very good underlying numbers and even in a down year he scores just as good as Fabbri and last year he scored twice as much.

WPG: Is in the same situation as PIT with cap and youngsters losing their waiver exemption. We need another experienced vet on our left side so that we can give our incoming kids some time in GR to get used to the smaller ice and faster pace. Schmidt plays both sides which is what gives him the advantage ahead of other options such as Martinez. That ability could be very important in case of injury to Seider or Hronek.

Offer sheet: The speculative part, TOR will have a hard time matching the offer and Liljegren is already quite a bit better than Hronek is defensively and his offense looks to be coming along nicely. If this comes through then Hronek turns into a potential trade piece at the 2023 trade deadline.

Future: There's roughly a six million salary increase coming for the 23-24 season with Larkin, Bertuzzi, Nedeljkovic, and a few others needing extensions. In 24-25 there's Raymond and Seider coming up for a raise but this should be easily covered by Schmidt and/or Pettersson being traded as our prospects demand roster spots.

I like it all other than strome. I feel he is only good with panarin. I would rather use what we have and then trade Hronek to fill that void.

I haven't watched him enough to have an opinionon on that. If it was Copp that got walked instead, how would you feel about that?

Looks good to me. Only thing I would like to see is Edvinsson on the team. With Schmidt and Pettersson he can be shielding from playing big minutes early in the year until he gets a feel for the league. I would probably sign another goalie as well and have Hellberg as the first guy up.

Schmidt is worth more. The Jets won't move him for that.
