Additional Details:
Probably fetches more irl considering he’s a 2 mil d man who is right handed and averages 20 mins a night with the market for d men like this fetching usually at worst a 2nd but regardless lets just say he goes for this
2.
TOR
  1. Tomasino, Philip
  2. Trenin, Yakov [RFA Rights]
  3. 2022 1st round pick (NSH)
Additional Details:
Something along these lines. Edits can be made with draft picks and/or prospects (going either way), but this is the main frame of the deal.
Nylander + cap dump + potential 4th liner
For
Young forward with top 6 potential + solid bottom 6er + 1st
Again, picks/prospects of smaller degrees can be added to either side, but this is the main portion of it

Instead of spending 10.8m on Nylander and Mrzarek a year for two years, the Preds spend their cap better and keep their first.

Mrazek could be bought out for 1 mil for 4 years which isn’t bad at all tbh, just think the Leafs would prefer to get that off their hands. That means you’re spending 8 mil for 2 years and 1 mil for the 2 after. Worth it for Nylander. Also looking back on that trade I did there, I think a 1st might have been too much considering that Nashville is likely to have the 17th or 18th overall pick. Maybe 2023 and 2024 2nds take the place for it tho, more or less

Ya I definitely wouldnt do that if I was Nashville.

Tomasino could pretty easily be a 60 point player with JT or AM within a year or two so the gap wouldnt be that huge. Massive cap difference though.

Trenin vs Anderson is a wash.

Mrazek is easily a 2nd round pick + cap dump at this point.

Also the 1st round pick barring a nashville playoff comeback is 17th overall so it will likely end up being a very good player as well.

The thing with Tomasino is that he’s a “could” whereas Nylander is a guarantee. Even with that factored in, idk if Tomasino will ever be as good as Nylander. I think he could be a very good 2nd liner, but likely not the 40G/80P guy Willy can be. Trenin is a solid bottom 6 piece, and that Mrazek contact is rough but he’s a rebound candidate and the buyout is actually relatively small (4x~1). The first might be a bit much considering how it’s very likely 17th/18th overall, but it could still work out depending on how much Nashville is valuing Tomasino. If they don’t feel comfortable moving the 1st, then other picks/prospects that come to lesser value is still probably fine (ex. 2 2nds)

Willy is 26 and has never even hit 35 he is not a "40 guy". He has never even been on pace for it. 80 points is generous too hes only done that pace once in 7 years. hes a 30 65 guy.

Tomasino already has a productive season in the NHL at 20 years old and a PPG season in the AHL at 19. Anyone reasonably looking at that knows he is going to at worst a high end 2nd liner. A reaasonable expectation is 50 points next year.

    The gap isnt major.

It makes 100x more sense for Nashville to keep Tomasino and spend that extra 6 million on another player.
