Description
What is the value of John Gibson? He has some pretty significant $$ and term left on his deal which does not line up well with the Ducks rebuild. I would think that a team may be able to get him at a bit of a discount just for the ducks to shed the contract and get something in reutrn to progress with their rebuild.

Also, his stats the last 2-3 seasons are not as good as earlier in his career, along with some potential injury concerns. However, the team in front of him has slipped in recent years as well, so maybe his stats have slipped due to this.

Thoughts on what it would take for the Leafs to acquire him?

Saying hia stats aren't as good as before is a massive understatement. He's been meh to bad for a long time and his contract is bad.
His value is minimal at best and even less to a team up against the cap

Realistically his trade cost is going to outweigh his value

Ducks still need to sell tickets, Gibson is still a good goalie, his down seasons are obvious to see but the Ducks have no need to take a lesser package to shed his contract we aren’t close to the cap.

Can’t see the Ducks entertaining anything less than a first, a top prospect and a good young NHLer

To put that in TOR terms, 1st + Knies + Lily/Sandin

Not saying he’s worth that to TOR, just saying what it would take to get him in my opinion (which holds as much weight as air)

Why would the Leafs give up assets for 6m Gibson when they can sign the equally competent (or better) Campbell cheaper.

Just checking in on a potential possibility in net in the event that negotiations go sideways with Campbell. It would be fully banking on Gibson playing better with a better team in front of him.

Yes, I was thinking this as well. The trade cost wouldn't match the actual value of the player/contract. Leafs in no way shape or form would be willing to give up that for Gibson, and I am sure the Ducks would not expect a package like that. Mrazek would have to go the other way in any potnetial trade as well, so that would help the Ducks cause for sure.
