Description
This is just a thought here:

1. I would honestly rather sign Trocheck or Copp to be a 2c (Kadri will probably be too expensive), but just playing around with the idea. I don't even know if PLD would sign a long term contract with the Caps since he wants to hit UFA. If he is dead set on not signing an extension, Caps should avoid. Too much to pay for a 1 year guy. Also, the contract for PLD could be way off - truly I do not know.

2. I know a lot of Ducks fans will say that the Gibson trade is not enough. Gibson has been well below average the last few years (actually VV has better numbers the last 2 seasons). A B prospect who is NHL ready, a 1b goalie, and a 1st + 3rd for a goalie who has bad stats - makes sense to me. I wouldn't want to give up more than this - Just go for Varly or Husso if Ducks say no.

3. Wilson will return in Feb - when he does, move Snively down to AHL and AJF to healthy scratch - that creates enough space.

4. Imagine when Wilson comes back - this team would be very dangerous.

That should get the Jets talking. Unless they don't like Iorio.

You really haven't traded any cap away to acquire 8m PLD and 6.4m Gibson. You can sign just as good UFA for 14.4m and keep the those first round picks.
Gee sign Campbell for 5m and you're just as good in net. PLD is a second line centre. Kadri at 8m X 4 or so is better so better value.

Exactly my thought process as well actually. This was just a new attempt I was playing around with. I do think PLD is better than Kadri (better on ice and better age - 24 compared to 31).

If you read the description, I say I would rather sign Trocheck / Copp (or Kadri depending on price) and keep the prospects / picks

Lol read description - this scenario is only if PLD signs a long term contract...
