Description
If you have an argument for who your teams top prospect is other than my choice please leave a comment for the second iterations.

What i view as a prospect. NHL player who is eligible for the Calder.

Prospects are ranked on a combination of their floor and their ceiling. For example, the floor of a Matt beneirs is a third line center and his ceiling is an all star center. Powers floor is a 2nd pairing d man while his ceiling is an all star d man. Basically the same thing at different positions but I view beneirs as having a higher ceiling therefore ranking him higher. This is not a knock on any prospect as I feel all of these prospects will make great NHL players. I except the argument that somebody will come in and say “but my teams player is a projected top 6FWD/top 4D” and my rebuttal to that literally every player on this list is in that category. No I don’t hate your player and players who are older are easier to project so for example Sanderson is projectable at the NHL level and his floor is much higher than a slafkovsky. Even tho slafkovskys ceiling is the third highest on the list, he is 4th because the floor is lower than a lot of other players being younger and harder to project.

Ones I am on the fence on-
CAL- between Pelletier or coronato
CAR- between kochetkov or morrow
CHI- between riechel, korchinsky, or nazar
CBJ- between Johnson or jiricek
EDM- between bourgault or Holloway
FLA- I honestly don’t know the pool that well but its between sourdif and mackie based on stats I rate higher
NSH- between askarov or kemell
NJD- could be L hughes or nemec
STL- between neighbors or bolduc
TOR- personally I believe Amirov is a better prospect but the fact that he hs had health concerns knocks him below a guy like knies
VGK- between dorofeyev, chayka, and brisson
WSH- between lapierre and miroschnichenko

Again, any argument for a certain player being over another I am all ears

brendan brisson was nasty at michigan and played well in the AHL to end the year, i think you have him too low.

His numbers are very good in a vacuum for sure. I would say the one thing that knocks him to how low he is is the fact he was primarily playing with guys like beniers, bordeleau, and Johnson. I see him as the 3rd best guy above bordeleau personally. Michigan is a powerhouse and that’s what knocks him down a notch personally because he is playing with plenty of future stars. 4 top 5 draft picks will do that. I obviously think he will be very good and am willing to move him up to somewhere between above knies or below raty. Good stats but inflated at that. Could definitely see him move up playing with less talent this year either in the A or if decides to go back to NCAA

I had Holloway originally but I wasn’t wowed with his AHL stats at all. Not nearly on par with other guys who played in the A on this list like Pelletier. He’s coming off a down year but since you are the oilers fan I’ll take your word at it. I don’t see it changing the ranking too much tbh. Maybe a slot up or a slot below.

I sure hope that you're right about Mason McTavish. When we took him over Luke Hughes I was appalled, and that was BEFORE last season at Michigan. Speaking of Hughes, imagine having as your two best prospects two potential future Norris Trophy candidates.
