Description
Thoughts:

Muzzin - TOR needs to shed cap and this gives them space (in both cap and roster spot) for Sandin. He could possibly cost less considering Toronto’s cap situation
Klingberg - Probably wouldn’t sign with us unless we offered more since other teams are more competitive, but worth a shot. Apparently he’s open to a shorter term deal. Outside of Drysdale our RD prospects are all really young and not ready to make a big leap (Helleson is closest and looked like he needed more development last year)
McTavish - starting him off on the wing like we did Zegras. Can transition him to center as the year goes on

Toronto needs to shed cap and we don't need to take it unless we have an incentive to do so. The Toronto guys have finally gotten around to offering us a second with him in exchange for Future Considerations -- don't get them all excited.

Lol I try to give a little more than necessary when posting a GM for my own team to avoid the bias. Point is he should be very cheap, and we need defense badly

For the record (so we both have it), here's the post from a Toronto fan today (07/25):

That would be criminally low - gifting a 2nd with a player who is already better than almost any player on your blueline at the moment is silly. Comparisons to other cap dumps need not apply - the Leafs aren't THAT pressed to move him, but would benefit more from moving him than a lot of other cap dumps we have seen this summer.

Muzzin gets a 3rd back NO PROBLEM. That being said, he probably won't waive to dwell in the bottom of the Pacific, nor will he really waive at all. I think the more apt comment would be that Leafs fans have finally realized that if Muzzin moves, it's next summer.

I agree completely with your analysis. Many of your Maple Leaf colleagues simply look at that cap hit and think that all of Toronto's problems will be solved if it's disappeared. I've said in many posts that I think that trading Muzzin would be a mistake because you have no one to replace him internally and I don't think that either Sandin or Giordano can do so for the whole season and then the playoffs, and what's left on the free agent market sure isn't appealing. (DeHaan? DeKeyser? Naaah.)
