Gotta think Devils would just rather Tatar for one season and have free cap next summer rather than two years of Hoffman.
Avs would be in desperate need of centre to make that trade.
Dach hasn't shown nearly that much to warrant that contract, though if the Habs think he going to be THAT good, it's a good signing.

I mean I can't see why the Habs would do the Tatar trade, and I don't know that Tatar would be happy to be back in Montreal, but I also don't hate that trade for the Devils... Not saying they'd accept it but it's worth considering, since it's effectively a free half price Dadonov in exchange for an extra year of paying Tatar

I mean I think COL does that, depending on what they think of Dvorak. Personally I think he is a pure high end 3C if Avs think he has 2C potential I think they accept.

Devils would much prefer the cap room next year, and that would also put them over the cap.
