Description
Let me explain why:

1. Colorado has TONS of RW options, Nuke and Rantanen can swap the 1RW/2RW role depending on how Newhook is working as 2C (we will probably get a 2C by the deadline, Sam Bennett is likely if he continues to play well without Huberdeau). Kane would have to be shoved down to 3RW, which is not a good role for someone known for pure offense, they need TOI to flourish.

2. Kane is going to cost a quality prospect AND a 1st at minimum, with our depleted prospect pool and the likelihood of our first being late, I don't think we'd be able to make the best offer unless we gave an arm and a leg (Olausson and Behrens are two players I would be REALLY hesistant about giving up, and they're probably the most sought-after players in Colorado).

3. Our cap situation isn't the greatest. Granted, it could be worse (Tampa, Toronto), but nonetheless, we can't afford to re-sign Kane. I really don't think it's good asset management to pay bank for a guy for one year only to be unable to re-sign him (unless we're getting some cap space back or this player will REALLY elevate us).

None of this is saying that Kane isn't a good player, he clearly is still elite. However, I think people that just have the Avs being shoved Kane, and giving up the sun and the moon, don't truly understand Colorado's situation.

Look at the RW depth, none of Nichushkin nor Rantanen should be pushed to the 3RW spot, being given ice time was literally the reason Nuke exploded last season (pun intended)

Exactly. Which is why I said that if Bennett continues to shine in Florida without Huberdeau, we should seriously consider trading for him.

Florida feels they are a stanley cup contender themselves. I seriously doubt florida trades bennett with that contract unless you have a tkachuk.

I feel that Colorado has a legitimate chance of getting Kane just because he gets to decide where he goes. Kane isnt owed that much money so it will be cheap to get a 3rd team to retain salary.

Kane would be 1st line rw, Mikko would drop down and play with Newhook. Even without Kane it's highly likely that we see a Lehk-Newhook-Rants 2nd line.

It would be cool to get Kane, not sure its worth it in the mid-long run

But would Florida give him up though? The chances are very low
