I doubt the pens are paying to offload Kapanen or Pettersson. They wouldn’t have signed Kapanen to that contract to immediately treat him as a cap dump and pay to get rid of him. They’d have just let him walk in free agency. And if they were interested in paying to trade Pettersson they’d have probably done it by now.

sometimes the situation is dictated by circumstance-i was really just saying one of these deals or something like this is possible but you are right one or both or some combo of POJ/kappy/peterson

Because CHI has multiple Dmen ready for an NHL shot AND they also have McCabe who will be healthy soon. They have SO many LHD to sort through over the next few years, it doesn't surprise me in the least that they moved Stillman.
