Description
MTL Fan just trying to show thing from the LAK side post trade.
So they can see the cap would work both short and longterm even if tight next year for a bit.
Show the lines and the potential for it to work from your side .
Our side well really anything is better then Wideman and Savard with rotating LD's on our RD.
So what comination of pairings their involved in really isnt as relevent as it is for a Contender like LAK
Matheson could move up to top pair but i know you like Anderson there
So i put him with Clarke instead as Roy/Durzi combine for 8pts to lead the team and shouldnt be touched as such.

MTL and LAK have been linked since Spring to Walker and Roy.
Recently Hughes spoke of Walkers importance to him and Spence much diffent then MB POV.
I say why not both??

Brandt is likely to have skipped over Spence as LAK headcoach from the interviews i heard of him speaking about Brandt Clarke seems like he's as high on him as Marty St Louis is on Kaiden Ghule.

With this jump in the line you now have 2 RD Stud Prospects playing LD with Edler day to day this past week.
Walker moving gives 1/2 a spot on RD or maybe pair them together rotating as needed.
Spence is officially out of the picture and should be available in trades soon as they has Grans for call up now and more time via ELC and Waiver Exemption

So Walker and Spence out, what does LAK get?
Ylonen im putting in as an overbid to bridge the gap in such a large trade.
To a Team like LAK Ylonen's play vs cap will be valued especially from a Defensive POV.
Well Spence i'd say Norlinder and a 2nd round pick
Walker on the other hand i'd 1 for 1 with Matheson

Its more or less the same level of value with different approaches.
Both have their injury issue but Walkers are Byron level while Mathesons is Anderson level.
He makes 2m more then Walker but produce 2m worth more offensively and defensively.
Its 1 for 1 because depite both their issues each team needs what the other has in these players mostly because of their shot position to give their teams access more freely to shooting lane's they're missing with 5/7 NHL D all shooting Right

MTL want Walker because despite being injury prone he'll help and Spence is the main goal here and Walkers just the bonus . Spence will play 2nd paid RD beside Harris and Walker by Xhekaj who will ensure anyone looking to injure or rough up Walker will get knocked out like Watson,Kastellic and Kassian.

For

Matheson
Norlinder
Ylonen aka Lehkonen Lite who never stops skating or moving.
2nd round pick in 2024
Trades
1.
LAK
  1. Matheson, Michael
  2. Norlinder, Mattias
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
He's had a good camp and playing well in Laval at 22 years old he's not quite ready but close similar to Spence.(He took time to adjust to Small Ice)

Matheson Produce's upto 40% more then Walker while playing more minutes and a bigger role. He doesnt fit MTL's system as we have no triggermen on our back end with Petry and Weber gone now. That said beside Doughty or Roy thats a big step up from Savard and Wideman.
2.
LAK
  1. Ylönen, Jesse
Additional Details:
Traded Seperately as i believe the value above is accurate but MTL will likely sweeten the pot so LAK give up Spence too. Ylonen is the kicker MTL add's in to make the deal happen
MTL
Like his dad he needed a few years in the AHL where he thrived scoring clutch goals all the way to a ECF game 7 with Laval.

Lehkonen and his dad played a very similar style and while his game is very similar he's a playmaker first where as they were shooters first.

He's the ideal 3rd guy on a line like Glenn Anderson he'll make a career off people choosing to see him as the weak link just because he played on a line with more talented players. He covered Kuri and Gretzky defensively once they hit the Neutral Zone usually setting up the rush from there and getting a point.

He'll be NHL ready within the next year
Truth is he might be ready now we have so many wingers he wasnt given really any shot . Neither was RHP who was a favorite of MSL a the end of last year "Laval-agher" wasnt given a look either sent down quick. This year unless you were defense we didnt pay much attention

Why would LA do that? They are already very cap strapped and this only works with Iafallo out. He will be making his return in mid November though. They also don't need a player like Ylonen as their prospect pool for forwards is very deep and he is pretty dime-a-dozen.

Why would the HABS even consider this trade. They will be looking elsewhere.

Assuming the cap could work for LA, which it wouldn't, I still wouldn't do it from a Habs perspective. That is a massive overpay for a good but not elite prospect.

Matheson is a legit top 4 dman on a decent contract. Ylonen and Norlinder are not throw in prospects. That 2nd rounder is going to be low in the 2nd round. That's a ton of value for essentially Spence. I need to see more of him at the NHL level before dropping that kind of value on him.

I don't mind just going after Walker just as a replacement for Wideman or something but it has to be for somewhat cheap because the Habs don't need to be overpaying for literally anything right now while they're rebuilding and Walker isn't that great anyway. Not too mention that when Eddy and Matheson are back healthy, the Habs will have a decent top 6 D. Eddy and Harris will play the right side when everyone's healthy again.
