No reason why Kane wouldn't choose CGY if they are looking like strong contenders, some media have listed CGY as one of the frontrunners for what that's worth

Make it a 2023 1st + Pelletier + Mackey + 4th and that's more than enough for Kane 50% retained. Kane is a rental, so should only cost a 1st + 2nd + Decent Prospect, but considering CGY's Picks will likely be later I can see having to add a Sweetener. Pelletier is still worth a mid-to-late 1st. Mackey's might be worth a late 2nd, a 3rd or possibly a 4th. It's hard to know how other teams might value him, I mean they all let Meloche clear waivers which was a big surprise to me.

CGY would be silly to make that Trade with VAN though. Kylington & Ruzicka are worth and needed far more than Schenn (with or without retention) + a 2nd that may never even turn in to an NHL Player.

I like Schenn for his Size & Experience, the fact he plays RD and he's done well for VAN last season and so far this one too, but it wasn't long ago that he was an AHL'er having fallen out of the league for a few years. No sense in bringing him in at that price to be a 7th/8th D-Man, maybe a mid-to-late pick but that's about it, he's a Pending UFA = Rental
