That's a good package but that's a crapload of retention. EK trade is really hard to price. Not a lot of teams could or would take a chance on his giant contract and it's not worth it to SJ to sell him for peanuts. I don't see him being traded unless he starts demanding it

Frankly, I would still consider EK65 a “buyer’s beware” guy. I’m still of the opinion that the Sharks never should have made that trade, but since they did, they will never get what they gave up for him. I also don’t think his current production is sustainable. While so far this season, he looks like he did in his prime, he is still injury prone and isn’t getting any younger. If I’m going to consider a move for EK, I would be looking at this season and next season, and if he continues his tear through the majority of this season and next, at that point I make the move. But as it stands, there is still too much risk to make the move for an unknown variable.

That’s just how I would handle it, whether that is what happens or not, I don’t know.

Minnesota wouldn't do this. Not with the long term contract they have and top d prospects

Not a bad offer.

But there's no way in hell that the sharks are eating $27,750,000 on Erik Karlsson for the next 5 seasons.

1) cap is going up which hedges the risk for both squads
2) hockey’s a business, EK65 will put ppl in seats in Minny during the next couple years if things go south
3) EK65 on the PP with 97 is worth the money/picks for 4 years, if he plays 12 mins a night
4) Brodin, Spurg, Addison are locks for the future adding Ek leaves room for young guys to come up and one goes in the trade
5) MN isn’t getting a 1C so add him to make a lethal PP to compete now, if he gets hurt we’re out 2 picks
