Horvat - Will probably eclipse 40 goals and takes a crap ton of face-offs and wins almost 60% of them
$8,000,000 x 8y
Kuzmenko - even if he gets 60 points, hes going to fetch a pretty penny. Doesnt really have any comps
$5,500,000 x 5y
Hoglander - He has started to boom on this line, closest comp will be in the Kakko/Dubé pool but I think that we could get him for a few extra years
$2,750,000 x 5y
Bear - RD who wants to play in Vancouver or at least on the west cost in a hockey market, and has played well since he's come I am using Peeke as the closest comp for a recent signing
$2,500,000 x 4y
Schenn - He will fetch Gudbranson money, less term
$3,500,000 x 2y
Burroughs - hes proven that he can be an NHL regular, probably gets about 2.5m-3m on his next deal, just depends on the years
$1,250,000 x 2y
All of this to show that the team is capped out and is going to be capped out if we dont do anything. We need to use the value we have tied up in our wings to get us a better D core, it is more of an off season trade that would be made but we cant be thinking that going down this same road is going to work. And trading Myers right away wont work either because we need people to play defence for us. I think that Bear has top 4 upside, I think we need to see what Rathbone is or send him out and get a RD or a RHC.
I was just joking around, but I honestly don’t have the ability to watch many Canucks games. How is Bear doing?
Bear has been really good, much better than I expected. He stands out as the only defenseman besides Hughes that can be relied on to make the right play. You can also tell that he plays at a much higher RPM than anyone else on the Canucks since he's developed under Rod in Carolina. He's been a great addition for a team that desperately needed NHL caliber RHD.
