I don't know why devils fans are so obsessed with giving up everything (including Severson) for Chychrun.

1) Chychrun and Severson's underlying numbers the last few seasons are super similar in terms of WAR value. Severson is better on offense, Chychrun's better on defense (but you already have Marino and Siegenthaler who are elite on defense)

2) Severson has passed 30 points 4 times to Chychrun's 1

3) Severson has hardly missed any games the last 5 years and Chychrun is constantly injured

The Devils shouldn’t do any of these trades.
There’s no point in needlessly gouging your prospect pool and shortening the Devils competitive window only to receive a marginal upgrade on the roster in the present.

Like, moving Severson for Chychrun is very much a lateral move.
Severson is playing a very important role on this Devils team as he’s constantly tilting the ice heavily in the Devils favor while keeping Brendan Smith’s head above water.
For the future the Devils have Luke Hughes penciled in for a top 4 role on the left which further negates any need in trading a 1st, Severson and three prospects (YIKES) for Chychrun.

Now that Meier trade is just insane, the return you’re suggesting is one of the richest in the cap era.
Thats certainly a higher return than Eichel commanded.
Holtz alone should cover most, if not all, of Meier’s value.
