No thanks to taking on Kotkaniemi’s contract

We’d probably have to retain on Myers to get a 3rd

Canes tell you firmly to jump in a lake. You're not getting Kotkaniemi for Horvat. Horvat is a rental. KK is signed long-term to a good deal. On top of that you want a 1st and a 2nd? Yeah, easy pass.

He has 5 points in 26 games this year, I think you are massively overestimating him. He’s 22, not 19, I see him as an overpaid 3C with some upside potential. This trade also assumes the Canes sign him, which is what the second round pick is compensation for. Canes also have a very good shot to win the Cup with this upgrade from KK to Bo

Canes would jump on any chance to dump 3rd liner Kotkaniemi.

100% sure they would do KK and a 1st for Horvat.

Kotkaniemi also has some of the best analytics in the NHL. He's a 3C with really strong upside with a decent cap hit that will only get better. He's only 22. It's not worth moving out a perfect defensive replacement for Jordan Staal for someone that would be Carolina's 3rd highest-scoring center (Aho, Necas). The Canes do have a genuine chance to win the cup and they do not need Horvat to do it. They need some upgrades on the bottom pair and maybe a 3rd line winger to better compliment Stastny.
