I mean, that much retention essentially turns Barrie into a $10+ mil dman for the next 2 years (and then $5.75 mil in dead cap through 2027), and all the Sharks get out of it is what *should* be a late 1st and a winger that is starting to look like a non-tender candidate.
I don't know what a Karlsson trade looks like, but if this is it, I just wouldn't bother. If the ankle goes in a few years, you bury him on LTIR. I absolutely see him as someone who's going to decline rapidly, but who knows.
