Description
Last time I made a Merkley trade I sent Siegenthaler over for him. SJS fans told me to go to hell, bet they wish they took that deal now lol

Merkley's value is pretty low so Caps should offer Johansen for him, who is also a former 1st round pick. Johansen is more of a sure thing, he can play in the NHL right now and do well, but his ceiling isn't as high as Merkleys. SJS get the sure thing with a higher floor (#4 dman) and the Caps take the unsure thing with a higher ceiling (top pairing offensive dman). Both teams win.

don’t think I was on CapFriendly when the Merkley-Siegenthaler trades were happening but I would love that now lol.
Don’t think SJ does this though. I understand what you’re saying in the description but Johanson really doesn’t have any value and we have a lot of depth LD. If Merkley’s attitude is the problem and it’s negatively affecting the whole team then maybe, but I would bet it’s just his defensive problems holding him back so I don’t think we take this.

I didn't even look at the LHD depth but if you guys are stacked there then yeah it wouldn't make sense.

yeah not any good players but a ton of guys that can play in the bottom 4 pairings which is where Johansen would be. Guys like Vlasic, Ferraro, Megna, Cicek, etc.

What about a guy like Joe Snively? A middle 6 winger that can play now. Speedy, great shot.

I know nothing about that guy, but if the description is accurate, sounds like you've got a deal. Sharks would probably prefer to get a pick though, maybe in the 3rd?
