Description
This moves out Cal Peterson's $5M contract to use it for 2nd line shutdown D man in McCabe (plus saving $1M) and allowing Durzi to move over to his natural side on the right on the 3rd line. Stalock upgrades as well over Copley.

Ultimately LA has $3.1M left in cap space to make an additional move if needed. Hawks bring Turcotte back home and develop him into the 2C he was projected to become.

It certainly helps to drop the Peterson contract but I think you are right. As much as I would like having Turc back in CHi-town.

Hawks are also taking on a $5M cap dump for the remainder of this season and 2 more seasons...not cheap to move $5M cap hits in today's league either. McCabe has been extremely solid now that his injury is behind him from last year; would be a good upgrade to LA's backend which needs a shut down type of player. Plus, upgrading from copley to Stalock would be a lot of help....Stalock is playing really well behind an awful team in Chicago.

Kings have no need or desire to dump Petersen's contract. He's playing well in the AHL right now, and the Kings are hoping that he'll rebound. They haven't given up on him.

Fair enough, but Cal hasn't looked good this year and didn't look good last year. The year prior to that was decent, but there's no ignoring he's now three seasons removed from 18/19 and 19/20 seasons in which he looked like a stud.
