Our top 9 is set; we don't need Brock Boeser or have the space for his $6.65 million cap hit with any comfort. Walker for Rathbone and a draft pick isn't a terrible idea, though.

Minnesota doesn't need Vancouver to eat cap. The cost would be lowered since we could eat the full value today without retention. By the deadline, we could eat his contract 3x over. I don't see us trading for him realistically either way since we aren't going to be able to re-sign him. This doesn't feel like the year to push all in so trading multiple assets for ~20 games of Horvat seems like poor asset management.
