I don't understand why the Caps would blow it up, much less trade Kuzy in division. Washington also has no interest in Boeser specifically.

Ken Holland has never traded a 1st for a rental yet, I don't see him starting now. They also don't have the cap space to pull this off. The deal would have to be structured something like this:

Washington receives 2nd round pick + player (say, Brett Kulak)
Edmonton receives Orlov (50% retained)
