I think retention is a killer in Van. Send back Blais and minimal retention would be needed as an alternative.

I hear ya. But the point would be the low cost long term. Otherwise, we probably shop somewhere else and give up something else. Certainly the value isn't there if it's Schneider, Blais for Mikheyev and Schenn straight up. That would be a steal for Vancouver.

Canucks are looking to clear cap space, not retain on long-term deals. I also don't see them trading Mikheyev just a year after signing him. However, Schneider is probably enough of an overpay to convince them to retain on Mikheyev and move him.

That's an awful trade for the Rangers, Schneider is a stud and the top of ELC player you need to build a deep playoff team.

I don't think the Rangers are in the position to add salary to the books long term. Tarasenko/ROR/Toews/Kane should be their targets, not Meier/Mikheyev. Rangers can't do term.
