so two lower in the round picks and raty/beauvillier = cormier? (Not to mention trading Barzal's friend)

Pure loss if that happens.

I'd hope if that happens, alot more of those older contracts go in trade too (Martin, Czikas, Parise, Pageau, Bailey, etc...)

I thought this was a joke when I saw the title. But it seems you are serious. haha. So, I guess it is better than not trading him, missing the playoffs, and him walking away in free agency. But I doubt the Isles give up by the TDL. They are gonna push for the playoffs until the last possible moment. They've already committed too much to turn around and pull a move like that. Unless he did this with the sole purpose of flipping him with retention and hoping to recoup and then some. I understand the logic, but something like this would be unprecedented.
