Trades
DAL
  1. Domi, Max ($750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Most Stars fans seem to be focused on Kane when Domi would be the better target. He provides a spark to the 2nd line, scores on the power play, plays with an edge, and could be a potential re-sign candidate this offseason
CHI
  1. Kiviranta, Joel
  2. Martino, Ayrton [Reserve List]
  3. Stranges, Antonio
  4. 2023 4th round pick (DAL)
  5. 2024 2nd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Martino is having a solid sophomore year at Clarkson University (NCAA), currently putting up over a PPG. He profiles out as a top-9 playmaking winger once he reaches the NHL level.

Stranges is more of a gadget kind of player. His "mohawk" skating style is frustrating to play against. Still unsure how it will translate to pro hockey, he's got the potential to be a useful bottom-6 player or he could simply find himself making a career in the minors.

Kiviranta is a throw in to make cap work, but can be a cheap bottom-6 re-sign if the Hawks need a body. UFA at the end of the year so there's no commitment. Figured this would be more appetizing than someone like Gurianov who comes with a $2.9M qualifying offer, should Chicago want to re-sign him

1) seems like a big haul for Domi. Maybe it’d be more even if it can with an extension? 3x$3? Or 2x$4?
2) thanks for explanations. It helps.
3) Hawks could eat more cap if you need it.
4) unless Dallas gives up Stankoven (they won’t) I don’t see Kane going there. Unless Dallas wants to give up or Hawks want to accept 24 1st and 23 2nd + prospect.

First, thanks for the response. Always appreciate feedback from the other side of trade.

1) Here's how I broke it down in my head: 24 2nd + Martino + Stranges for Domi -- 23 4th for retention + taking Kiviranta

2) No problem at all. Rather explain my side than have someone try to interpret my trades. Lol

3) Don't think Chicago would need to eat more cap due to the fact that the cap would be prorated. The "Cap Space" listed here isn't entirely accurate for an in-season trade. If Dallas wants to make another move or two at the deadline, they may ask for more retention

4) You're spot on. Dallas isn't going to give up Stankoven & I don't think they're going to want to give up a ton for a guy in Kane that they likely have no shot at re-signing this offseason. If I'm targeting players on the Hawks roster, I'm starting with guys like Domi, McCabe, or even Murphy

I think you're a little heavy here - I would think a 2nd & a solid prospect like Martino would get Domi fully retained (go all the way to $1.5M, why not!); and if you think you have to pay to dump Kirivanta, I'd say the 4th or the longer shot prospect (Stranges) would be the most you'd have to dish out to get Kirivanta's $1.05M off your books.

I think for a team like Dallas that needs that 2nd line winger, Domi is a good target. Kane would cost too much and Dallas doesn’t have exactly what hawks are looking for. Domi is out scoring Kane anyway.
