Description
Gaudreau may have been hurt tonight so I'm putting him on IR

All the kids that don't have to go through waivers go to Cleveland

Everyone gets traded that makes sense

Claim a couple randoms or get a couple AHLers included in trades to have backups for the tank squad the rest of the year

Post TDL this team would be absolutely unwatchable.

Isn’t Nyquist injured? Even so hasn’t played most of the year? I’ll take my chances somewhere else.

Love the Nyquist trade, leafs basically trading for extra LTIR space since he is out for the remainder of the regular season. The only issue would be getting close enough to his salary in cap space available by placing eligible players in the minors before the deal (Holmberg, Simmonds, etc.). Leafs would need to be able to add him and be cap compliant before he can be moved to LTIR.

Would need the jackets to retain a small portion to make the leafs cap complaint before sending him to LTIR. Somewhere around the 500k - 1 mil mark by my estimations. Not sure if Jackets are willing to do that, it would be a complex trade negoiation haha. Conditional pick based on how many games Nyquist plays in the playoffs and how the team performs, plus an extra pick for the retained salary maybe?

It would be a win-win for both teams if they could pull it off...leafs add extra deadline space, and if Nyquist can play in the playoffs, having another veteran wing option with some offensive upside is not the worst thing in the world. Jackets get at least something for him and get out of paying some salary for the remainder of the season.

Oilers won't be giving up an asset to move Puljujarvi, they can just waive him to get the cap that they need to activate Yamamoto.

Only reason to do it though is if they feel like they didn't manage to add enough, perhaps if they end up getting like a 3C and a D-man instead of a top 6 winger.

Yeah for sure, if they wanted to make multiple adds. Also, a lot of people just assume Kerfoot can be moved in a deal, he does have a 10 team NTC to contend with, no guarantee that he would waive for some of the teams Leafs would trade with, they are probably on his list. This would be a way to add some extra space and possibly keep Kerfoot, they do like his versatility and PK ability.

Shaping up to be an interesting deadline, a lot of possibilities...
