Description
I have Marleau as a C here but it's not hard to envision a scenario where Nylander moves to centre and Marleau to LW.

I would've paid a bit more than half that for Marleau.. are leafs fans happy with that signing?

Depends on what they do with their surplus forwards. If they can flip somebody for some valuable assets then I'm good with it. Definitely an overpay but that won't be an issue until the final year of the deal. Wish they didn't give him a full NMC in that last year.

I love it. Given the situation. He probably deserved 2 yrs and that would have been optimal for the leafs but the money is ok and 3 yrs is fine. It would have been more of a shame to not use this money to try to make this team better now. And if the leafs can now trade JVR for a decent return (I prefer a 1st and a good prospect, Center or D) then they will not be worse off now and don't have to commit long term money to him. I think that Marleau plays a great two way game and he can skate and score. He should be able to contribute 20+ goals with this young team and he should mesh well with the group while providing a vet presence.

I also think Marleau could best fit with Kadri as a scorer. He seems to like to get in front of the net and bang/tip pucks in and that could be just what Kadri needs. Komarov could play on the right or slip down to the 4th line. Either way they have a few wingers that will be pushed down the depth chart.
